HSE Supervisor

Overview

In this role you will lead Health, Safety, and Environmental activities for the M Renewables Division across the UK, focusing on large-scale Solar PV and BESS projects. You will drive HSE management system implementation, site compliance, and proactive safety culture across construction sites. Working with project teams and subcontractors, you ensure alignment with legislation, client requirements, and project objectives. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear impact on safety outcomes and project success. You will help shape safe, compliant execution on renewable energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Construction Phase Plan (CPHSP), IMS, and project-specific HSE requirements
• Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM 2015, and client procedures across site activities
• Review PCI and implement HSE requirements through construction
• Prepare and maintain project Risk Assessments and Environmental Risk Assessments, plus HSE documentation
• Review and approve subcontractor RAMS and Safe Systems of Work
• Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, and safety observations; oversee compliance reviews
• Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations with root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Develop and maintain Site Environmental and Waste Management Plan; emergency, traffic, welfare, and fire procedures
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and promote a positive safety culture; coordinate with stakeholders
• Prepare weekly/monthly HSE and client reports; maintain compliance documentation
• Monitor environmental controls, waste, fuel storage, and pollution prevention
• Support continuous improvement and mentor site teams to enhance HSE performance

Key requirements

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (mandatory)
• 3–5 years in a Health & Safety role on construction, civil engineering, utilities, EPC, or renewable energy projects
• Experience on Solar PV, BESS, substations, or energy infrastructure projects (desirable)
• Knowledge of UK H&S legislation including CDM 2015
• Experience managing subcontractor HSE performance on live sites
• RAMS, Safe Systems of Work, and Permit-to-Work expertise
• HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• First Aider (3-Day First Aid at Work with Defibrillator)
• NEBOSH Environmental or Fire Certificate (desirable)
• ISO 45001/14001 internal or lead auditor qualifications (desirable)
• Risk Assessment qualifications (desirable)
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK
