Estimator Defence

Overview

In this Estimator role, you will produce accurate estimates and cost models for defence projects, supporting decision-making for high-profile programmes. You will work within a UK-based Estimating team, collaborating with clients and other project controls functions to promote best-practice estimating. The role focuses on delivering timely estimates, maintaining the estimation process, and staying current with industry developments. This is a chance to contribute to Defence infrastructure initiatives while operating in a security-conscious, client-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely and efficient manner
• Control and manage the estimating process at project level
• Produce estimates without supervision
• Collaborate within a team or with limited supervision
• Support development and promotion of estimating best practices within Turner & Townsend
• Represent Turner & Townsend in client organisations on estimating matters
• Assist in achieving departmental objectives
• Stay abreast of developments in own technical area to provide best-practice advice

Key requirements

• Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
• Experience in Defence sector
• Proven ability to compile, assure and deliver complex estimates and cost models
• Experience working within an integrated Project Controls team
• Public sector project experience
• Excellent and flexible MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication in client-facing contexts
