Technical Manager – Surrey – Residential Developer

Overview

In this role you will lead the technical and design effort for multiple new build residential developments from Surrey. You will step up from a senior technical coordinator/architect role to manage design, drawings, and compliance across disciplines, working with architects, commercial and production teams. You’ll steer packages to meet timelines and quality standards within RC and timber frame contexts. This is a hands-on leadership position with scope for progression within the company’s technical leadership track.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full working drawings packages
• Coordinate with architectural team to ensure timely delivery
• Liaise with commercial and production teams during development
• Supervise the technical and design team; ensure cross-disciplinary alignment
• Provide input to project programmes and identify critical paths
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, NHBC Standards and sustainability requirements
• Communicate with all disciplines at all levels
• Support and mentor team members to improve processes and delivery

Key requirements

• 6+ years of residential developer experience on multiple new build developments
• Strong knowledge of the development/technical design process
• Experience with RC frame and timber frame construction
• Ability to interrogate design information across disciplines
• Architectural background; AutoCAD beneficial
• Understanding of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards and sustainability; ability to interpret and negotiate compliance
• Ability to read and interrogate project programmes and critical paths
• Degree level education or professional qualification
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to manage people, processes and time
• Team player with effective cross-functional collaboration
• Experience liaising with commercial and production teams
