Product Design Lead

Overview

As the C2 Product Design Lead, you will steer hardware and software design across domestic and export C2 programmes. You’ll lead a small team delivering new equipment software designs and help set hardware build standards, aligning with project stakeholders. You’ll tackle complex integration challenges, ensuring timely delivery while shaping the product development lifecycle. This role sits at the heart of a flagship system that protects national security, offering hands-on impact across multiple programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team delivering new equipment software designs
• Support development of new hardware build standards
• Engage with wider project stakeholders within the Weapon System design process
• Meet project schedules by reporting progress and predicting completion dates
• Manage change processes and embody new designs

Key requirements

• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Experience in deriving design baselines from requirements to test-ready products
• Ability to lead small teams to achieve outcomes
• Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
• Ability to analyze requirements to generate detailed functional design documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills to lead design issue investigations and resolutions
• Passion for addressing diverse customer needs with design solutions
• Proficiency in DOORS, Rhapsody or similar engineering/configuration management tools
• Degree level qualification (preferably in a STEM field) or equivalent experience
