Overview
In this role you will shape and improve drainage solutions for Derbyshire, reducing flood risk and strengthening highway resilience. You’ll work within a specialist drainage team, influencing projects from feasibility to delivery and collaborating with councils, contractors, and stakeholders. Your technical judgement will drive practical, cost-effective designs with lasting community impact. Responsibilities
- Deliver highway drainage and drainage infrastructure projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
- Develop and review drainage designs across multiple project stages.
- Identify problems using site inspections, surveys, and drainage modelling; propose effective, long-term solutions.
- Prepare technical reports and project recommendations to improve network resilience.
- Collaborate with council teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful scheme delivery.
Key requirements
- Experience delivering highway drainage or drainage infrastructure projects.
- Experience developing and reviewing drainage designs across multiple project stages.
- Working knowledge of DMRB and SuDS principles.
- Experience using drainage modelling software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow or similar.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical solutions clearly.
