Overview

In this role you will advance both research and teaching in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for renewable energy technologies. You will develop and apply LCA models, interpret results, and contribute to education across MSc and BSc programs. You will combine LCA with data-driven methods and AI to enhance modelling and data availability. The position supports collaboration within the Energy Institute and broader energy systems research, with a permanent appointment from February 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and strengthen research and teaching in LCA for renewables and integrated energy systems
  • Develop, apply and interpret LCA models; manage life cycle inventories and databases
  • Conduct scenario modelling, uncertainty and sensitivity analyses, and interpret results for policy and practice
  • Teach and supervise students in LCA software tools and materials assessment
  • Contribute to MSc and BSc teaching in Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources programs
  • Develop a research agenda in collaboration with colleagues and pursue funding opportunities
  • Collaborate on inter- and cross-disciplinary projects within the Energy Institute and wider university

Key requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field
  • substantial experience in quantitative LCA methods, technical modelling and data-driven analysis
  • proficiency with LCA software tools (GaBi, OpenLCA, SimaPro)
  • ability to develop, manage and interpret LCA inventories and impact assessment
  • strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • ability to teach and supervise students in LCA applications and materials assessment
  • ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
