Junior Data Officer

Overview

In this role you will support data governance, quality, and privacy to improve how data is managed and used across the organisation. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders and assist with data catalogues, documentation, and regulatory compliance, while learning from experienced data professionals. You help translate data concepts for non-technical audiences and drive practical improvements through cross-functional partnerships. This is a hands-on development role with mentoring, designed to build your specialist knowledge and contribute to a data-driven culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine practical data governance policies, frameworks, and procedures
• Promote ownership and stewardship of data assets across the organisation
• Engage with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver value
• Foster a data-driven culture through training and communication
• Implement data cataloguing and lineage to improve discoverability and transparency
• Support data quality controls and processes for issue management and reporting
• Oversee privacy risks and ensure compliance with data regulations
• Monitor compliance with data regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and assist with audits and regulatory reviews
• Support change management for new data policies, tools, and processes
