Responsibilities

  • Hire, mentor and develop engineers on the team
  • Raise technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence
  • Identify ML opportunities that create customer value
  • Frame product problems with Product and Design stakeholders
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and problem understanding
  • Research and select appropriate algorithms and tools
  • Perform offline evaluations to validate algorithms
  • Collaborate with engineers to bring prototypes to production
  • Plan, share learnings, and inform iteration
  • Partner with the rest of the team to build ML products

Key requirements

  • 5-8 years of applied ML experience
  • Senior/Staff-level background in data science, software development or academia
  • Significant, demonstrable impact on product or teams
  • Strong programming skills
  • Experience as primary technical leader for a team
  • Strong communication across engineering and other disciplines
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Advanced education in ML or related field (e.g., MSc)
