Overview

In this role you will provide expert regulatory guidance for WEX’s Corporate Payments and Mobility businesses across the EMEA region. You will work with compliance, product and commercial teams to shape strategy, monitor regulatory developments, and support market entry. You will engage regulators and external advisors, ensuring programs meet key regulatory expectations while enabling business growth. This is a strategic, cross-functional role in a fast-paced fintech environment offering a clear impact on expansion and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regulatory and commercial legal support for WEX’s regulated entities in the EMEA region
  • Monitor regulatory horizon and advise on current and prospective regulations
  • Offer strategic regulatory guidance aligned with business initiatives in EMEA (Mobility and Corporate Payments)
  • Engage with regulators, industry bodies, lobbyists and external counsel
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Financial Operations, Commercial and Product teams to align risk frameworks, policies, and contracts with regulator focus areas (AML/CTF, outsourcing, governance, resilience)
  • Monitor regulatory changes and prepare for consultations to ensure readiness
  • Identify legal/regulatory issues in new markets and manage licensing or cross-border service provisions
  • Advise on product development to support growth and innovation

Key requirements

  • Qualified to practice Law in England & Wales
  • Post-qualification experience in payments and financial services regulation
  • In-house experience preferred
  • Located in the UK
  • Strong technical ability and knowledge
  • Experience providing regulatory guidance for regulated payments firms
  • Experience with regulators in the EMEA region is attractive
