Overview
In this role you will lead the full employee lifecycle and provide trusted HR support across the business, guiding day-to-day HR operations. You’ll partner with managers to shape people practices, policies and culture in a growing environmental/infrastructure company. Expect hands-on ER, onboarding, payroll, training and compliance work that drives a positive, high-performing workplace. Responsibilities
- Oversee employee relations, performance management, investigations and outcomes
- Coordinate occupational health referrals when needed
- Review and develop HR policies, procedures, structures and equality monitoring
- Oversee weekly payroll and benefits administration (pensions, healthcare, vehicles, Cycle to Work)
- Maintain and develop HR systems
- Collaborate with Talent & Workforce Manager on recruitment and workforce planning
- Lead onboarding and internal movements (promotions/transfers) for smooth employee experience
- Manage HR processes for leavers and related documentation
- Act as HR lead for apprenticeships
- Identify training needs and support managers’ people-management capabilities
- Provide practical HR advice to managers and staff
- Support people-related aspects of tender submissions
- Prepare HR reports/presentations using data for senior management
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practice
Key requirements
- Generalist HR Manager or senior HR experience
- Confident handling complex employee relations
- Commercially aware with stakeholder relationship skills
- Highly organized, proactive in fast-paced environments
- Experience with HR systems, HRIS/ATS, and MS Office
- Ability to analyze HR data and translate into insights
- Strong communicator delivering practical HR guidance
- Passionate about people development and positive workplace culture
- Ability to work independently and within a management team
- 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, including supervisory/management experience
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience with HRIS, ATS and Microsoft Office systems
