Consultant in Paediatric Neurology or Neurodisability

Overview

In Evelina London Children’s Hospital, you will join the Paediatric Neurosciences team as a substantive 10 PC consultant. You will run multidisciplinary paediatric neuromuscular clinics and provide acute neuromuscular care, while supporting advanced therapies for SMA. You’ll work within a regional referral network and contribute to neonatal and inpatient services, including hypotonia assessments. This role offers a chance to advance tertiary paediatric neurology with research or teaching opportunities in a dynamic, teaching hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct multidisciplinary paediatric neuromuscular clinics at Evelina London
• Provide dedicated sessions for acute neuromuscular care
• Support advanced therapies for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) including intrathecal nusinersen
• Engage in regional clinic model and direct referral pathways in South East Thames
• Participate in Paediatric Neurology on-call rota (~1 in 9 weeks)
• Offer inpatient consultations and lead infant clinics for hypotonia and potential neuromuscular disorders

Key requirements

• MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
• Eligible for full UK GMC/GDC registration and License to Practice
• On GDC/GMC Specialist Register for Paediatric Neurology or Paediatric Neurodisability (or within six months of CCT)
• Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
• Valid BLS Training
• Desirable: APLS and NLS
