Food Service Design Manager, Design, Sustainability & Engineering

Overview

As a Designer within Amazon’s GREF Workplace Design & Construction, you will translate program goals into precise design deliverables for food service and F&B spaces across global portfolios. You’ll collaborate with food service leads, AORs, and Facilities teams to refine standards, produce construction-ready drawings, and support digital tools that streamline recommendations. You’ll help adapt global standards regionally while ensuring compliance, quality, and consistent execution. This role offers the chance to impact how Amazon’s food environments support facilities operations and customer experience, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and practical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Support design development for food service facilities (cafeterias, coffee shops, grill stations, salad bars, markets, back-of-house kitchens) aligned to BOD standards and brand guidelines
• Create and maintain design standards, guidelines, and documentation (BOD updates, casework specs, equipment layouts, design intent)
• Incorporate ADA, health code, and operational compliance in deliverables; conduct design reviews for local/global standards
• Prepare and present design concepts, layout options, and project updates to stakeholders
• Assist in developing food service program recommendations based on project inputs; support digital decision-support tools
• Contribute to RFP processes for equipment, casework, FF&E; evaluate proposals and provide design-informed recommendations
• Support regional portfolio needs (AMER/EMEA/APAC), adapting standards to regional contexts

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or experience as a design/architecture specialist
• Experience in facilities/office management, corporate services, or hospitality management
• Experience using CAD technologies (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp, KeyShot)
• Experience reading/editing construction documents (drawings, specs)
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Experience communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences
