CAD Manager – Civil Specialist Services

Overview

As CAD Manager in WSP’s Civil Services team, you lead the CAD stream on airfield, maritime and pavement projects across the UK and overseas. You will mentor CAD Technicians, oversee 2D/3D modelling output, and ensure consistency and quality throughout the design lifecycle. You’ll collaborate with engineers to set up project workflows, templates and standards aligned with client needs. Responsibilities

• lead CAD Technicians to produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models
• quality-check deliverables and maintain drafting standards
• mentor and develop CAD staff and serve as information source for Engineering Managers
• set up project workflows and drawing templates to meet client needs
• review drawings for compliance with in-house and client standards
• develop and maintain in-house drafting standards
• deliver training and guidance to enhance deliverables and model creation
• ensure delivery aligns with CAD/BIM Standards, health and safety, and risk management
• contribute to and improve the modelling delivery process
• participate in design through feasibility to construction stages and provide input to the design team
• work with BIM standards such as PAS 1192 and BS EN ISO 19650
• address project brief and meet client deadlines

Key requirements

• extensive civil design experience, ideally airports, highways/pavement, or maritime
• proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Navisworks
• strong engineering drawing and construction detailing skills
• experience with CDE platforms such as Bentley ProjectWise and ACC
• ability to contribute to design processes and set up workflows
• review and ensure compliance with drafting standards
• training and development of CAD team members
• ability to work within CAD/BIM Standards and project risk management
• knowledge of BIM standards (PAS 1192, BS EN ISO 19650)
