Overview
As a Software Engineer at ONI in Oxford, you will build automation and analysis software for high-throughput super-resolution microscopy. You will deliver enterprise-scale C++ applications and develop image processing and machine learning solutions to help non-experts extract rapid, actionable insights. You’ll work closely with hardware, firmware, and cross-functional teams to ensure software aligns with hardware specs and system-level performance. Responsibilities
- Automate acquisition and analysis workflows for scientists
- Deliver high-quality, enterprise-scale software solutions
- Design, implement, and test high-performance C++ applications (C++14/17/20)
- Develop image processing/analysis/ML solutions for nano-scale microscopy
- Debug hardware/software integration issues at system and signal level
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to align software with hardware specs
- Write clear, well-documented, testable code
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to align goals across departments
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience developing image processing algorithms/applications (low level, analysis, image understanding)
- Proficient in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming
- Experience working in Agile/SCRUM software development
