Overview
As Director, Tax Technology you lead the practice’s revenue and a team of tax-technology professionals. You steer project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver enterprise-class tax automation solutions on time and within budget, while cultivating client relationships and guiding both team and clients on progress. You’ll contribute to business development through proposals and client meetings. This role blends leadership, technical direction, and delivery excellence within a dynamic, award-winning culture.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and resources for tax technology projects; oversee deliverables and client service
- Provide technical leadership and direction for project execution, including requirements analysis, design, configuration, installation and implementation of tax automation software
- Maintain and grow partnerships and client relationships; advise team and clients on project status, adherence to timeline and budget
- Assist with business development: proposals, engagement agreements, and participation in calls/meetings
- Mentor and train staff; develop client workplans; monitor timelines and budgets; report status to stakeholders; review client deliverables
- Support client billing and financial forecasting; review documentation and ensure accuracy of process and communications
- Define project success criteria, create metrics, and enforce project methodologies and standards
- Oversee day-to-day operational aspects of projects and escalate issues as needed
- Configure tax automation software solutions and ensure integration with ERP systems; manage escalation and remediation policies
- Travel up to 50%+ as required
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Information Technology (desirable)
- 5–7 years of experience in providing tax automation services
- CPA designation a plus; PMP certification preferred
- Knowledge of SDLC/Agile is a plus
- Deep knowledge of tax software solutions (Sabrix, Vertex, Taxware) required
- Hands-on experience with tax integration points to ERP systems (Oracle, JDE, PeopleSoft, SAP) preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
- Strong client service, communication, and project management skills
