Civil Engineer

Overview

As a Civil Engineer in Arcadis’ Civils and Structures team in Birmingham, you will design and deliver structural and civil elements for rail and buildings projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet budget, timeframes and quality targets. You’ll develop skills toward chartered status with mentorship from industry experts and work on a diverse rail-focused portfolio. This role blends design delivery with problem solving to support sustainable infrastructure. You will help shape reliable solutions for clients and contribute to Arcadis’ mission to improve quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Provide design delivery for structural and civil projects, primarily in rail and buildings
• Collaborate with team members to meet project requirements and client expectations
• Develop relationships with Global Design colleagues and leverage cross-team resources
• Complete allocated activities to meet budget, schedule and quality objectives
• Apply methodical design approaches and produce technical writing at project level
• Operate with limited supervision on professional tasks within a specialization
• Perform routine and some non-routine engineering tasks and calculations
• Prepare drawings, specifications, reports, and documentation compliant with standards
• Understand interface of unique project elements with the client and overall system
• Investigate and analyze to support technical solution development and resolve issues

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil or Structural engineering
• 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in rail structural design and civil engineering
• Experience with Autodesk or Bentley CAD software
• Ability to work closely with design and project teams at all levels
• Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with internal teams
• Working toward Incorporated or Chartered Status of a relevant institution
