Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design and specify water-sector assets, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on time and within budget. You’ll drive design safety, progress projects from feasibility to construction, and contribute to asset surveys and standard product development. You will support digital, sustainability, and people objectives while liaising with Operations, contractors, and suppliers. This is a chance to contribute to major water infrastructure programs within a pioneering alliance.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil designs, calculations and specifications for water-sector assets (pipes, ductile iron, steelwork, plastic)
• Manage design schedule and ensure standards compliance; liaise with Operations, contractors and suppliers
• Drive health and safety in design and reduce risks per Alliance CDM procedures
• Progress projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction
• Conduct site visits for asset condition assessment and survey data contribution
• Support updating and increasing Standard Products used in repeatable design solutions
• Identify opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation and people objectives

Key requirements

• BEng or MEng/MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering ( Chartered status ideally pursued)
• Experience in structural calculations for concrete structures and civil design experience
• Proficiency with engineering design software packages
• Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes; ability to interpret ground investigation reports
• Teamwork and collaboration skills
• Strong report writing and data analysis skills
• Ability to challenge existing ways of working and propose new approaches
