Banking Lawyer

Overview

In this Banking Lawyer role, you will support a premier Banking and Finance practice in Edinburgh, handling transactional and advisory work across real estate, structured, leveraged finance and corporate funding. You’ll draft, negotiate, and review loan and security documentation, and contribute to client papers and market guidance. You will supervise junior members, manage transactional projects, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet clients’ business objectives. The opportunity sits in a Band 1 practice known for high-profile financing deals and market leadership. You will work closely with lenders, borrowers, and sponsors, shaping complex finance outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate loan and security documentation and legal opinions.
• Conduct legal research and prepare client advisories or publication papers.
• Support and progress clients’ business objectives within a sector-focused group.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members.
• Project manage transactional work and collaborate on multi-disciplinary matters.
• Engage in business development activities for the team, practice area, and firm.

Key requirements

• Fully qualified lawyer with 4+ PQE in Banking & Finance.
• Interest and enthusiasm for finance work.
