Overview

In this role you help design, equip, and maintain Amazon’s data centers to scale capacity, ensure safety, and drive reliability. You will work across field and office settings with cross-functional teams to implement upgrades and resolve incidents. The position offers hands-on, end-to-end responsibility from design through turnover on hyper-scale infrastructure projects. You’ll be at the edge of innovation in mission-critical facilities, delivering high-quality, cost-efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and equipment submittal review for new data centers in your region
• Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation for site/equipment failures
• Provide ad-hoc training and review operating procedures for critical equipment and events
• Own conceptual design for data center upgrades to increase capacity, availability, efficiency, and sustainability
• Coordinate with operations, design engineering, server hardware, and safety teams to maintain standards
• Lead engineering audits and on-site visits, producing risk reports with mitigations
• Act as resident engineer during new construction, supporting commissioning and turnover

Key requirements

• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities (data centers, power generation, etc.)
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• Strong communication and writing skills
• Attention to detail and high quality standards
• Organized with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budgets
• Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers
• Knowledge of building codes and regional regulations
• Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS controls system software or hardware
