Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to RSE’s asset management initiatives by delivering mechanical design from concept through implementation for UK projects. You’ll be part of an in‑house, multidisciplinary team ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory standards. You will engage in reviews, safety studies and stakeholder liaison to drive compliant, high‑quality solutions. The position offers the chance to work on municipal water/wastewater projects and influence design at multiple stages, from FEED to construction support. This is a mission‑critical role for shaping sustainable water treatment technologies with a fast‑paced, innovative team.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design aspects from inception to implementation
• Ensure compliance with client specs and regulatory/industry standards
• Participate in project reviews and safety studies (HAZOP)
• Address health, safety, quality, and environmental considerations
• Liaise with key project stakeholders and equipment suppliers

Key requirements

• Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Mechanical design engineering experience in municipal water/wastewater treatment (desirable)
• Experience in a multidiscipline design team
• Experience across design stages from optioneering/FEED to construction support/As-Built (desirable)
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Full UK Driving Licence
