Overview

In this role you will provide high-quality ED care while supporting rapid assessment, treatment, and clinical decision-making. You’ll lead clinical teams, help shape the Trust’s Emergency Medicine service, and mentor junior staff. You’ll engage in education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and participate in a 24-week on-call rota. The opportunity includes developing protocols, collaborating across sites, and contributing to a culture focused on improvement and equality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care to ED patients
  • Ensure rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision-making to support Emergency Care Standard
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision within the ED
  • Participate in developing the Trust’s Emergency Medicine service including QIPS, protocols and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external clinicians
  • Deliver educational opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Participate in on-call duties on a 24-week rolling rota (category A)
  • Manage administrative duties with available office space, secretarial support and IT facilities
  • Support Professional Activities with 1.5 SPA within the core 10PA timetable; SPA/DCC time may be commissioned as needed

Key requirements

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Emergency Medicine or recognised within 6 months of CCT/CESR
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • FRCEM; CCT in Emergency Medicine or equivalent or within 6 months of GMC Register entry
  • ATLS/ALS and APLS (or EPLS)
  • Level 1 Ultrasound competency (Royal College of Emergency Medicine)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
