Overview
As a Delivery Manager at Kainos, you will ensure digital services and platforms align with client outcomes while upholding governance and quality. You’ll empower cross-functional teams to perform, learn, and grow within Kainos’ people-first culture. You’ll leverage delivery success and client relationships to explore follow-on opportunities. The role blends governance, delivery excellence, and business development in a client-facing consulting context, offering impact across complex projects and transformations.
Responsibilities
- Establish and enforce project governance and technical quality standards across the lifecycle
- Manage risks and issues and escalate where needed
- Protect information security and ensure confidentiality adherence
- Define success factors beyond traditional measures and ensure work streams have plans to achieve them
- Monitor profitability, forecasts, and project metrics (revenue, staffing, WIP, debt)
- Add value for clients by proactively managing expectations and addressing issues
- Motivate and empower teams, coach staff, and manage performance
- Develop and onboard team members, ensuring clear goals and regular feedback
- Foster constructive client, supplier, and stakeholder relationships
- Support sales and account teams to position Kainos for profitable new business
- Share successes externally through case studies, awards, and blogs
- Contribute to continuous improvement in management capability and align with Technology/Experience Design/Consulting thinking
- Assist with recruitment to support organizational growth
Key requirements
- Minimum of 2 years managing software delivery projects in an agile environment for external customers
- UK public sector experience (central government)
- Experience leading project teams including line management
- Proven ability to develop and manage client-supplier relationships and knowledge of at least one industry vertical (Financial Services, Health, Government)
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project dynamics
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- High flexibility (willingness to work away from base)
- Desirable: user research/analytics/design understanding; track record of securing follow-on business; PM certification; digital transformation delivery; leadership improvement initiatives
