Quantity Surveyor – 50,000 – 70,000 – Essex

Overview

In this Quantity Surveyor role, you will drive cost-efficient delivery of an affordable housing development in Essex. You work closely with the commercial team to maximise value and ensure quality while controlling cost, managing subcontractor terms, and provisioning contract documentation. You’ll lead subcontractor coordination, attend pre-commencement meetings, and ensure variations and bids are properly supported. This role offers hands-on contract administration within a fast-paced project team.

Responsibilities

• Maximise project value and quality while controlling cost
• Prepare liability schedules for the commercial director
• Support PQS relationship management
• Liaise with subcontractors for take-offs, bid analysis, and enquiries
• Arrange subcontractor terms to be back-to-back with the main contract
• Lead pre-commencement subcontractor meetings
• Place subcontractor and material orders with price and delivery dates
• Draft and issue contract correspondence
• Ensure contract variations are properly documented

Key requirements

• 3 years’ experience in the industry
• financial management experience
