Child Care Solicitor – Plymouth

Overview

In this role you will handle public law child care matters for vulnerable families, shaping outcomes with clear, compassionate guidance. You will join the Family Care team in Plymouth, collaborating with colleagues to support parents and relatives when social services are involved. You’ll manage a hands-on caseload, representing clients in court and guiding cases from early concerns to complex applications. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference through confident advocacy and empathetic client service.

Responsibilities

• Manage and run your own caseload in public law children proceedings
• Advise on care proceedings and Special Guardianship Orders
• Contribute in pre-proceedings and PLO meetings
• Represent clients at all stages of court hearings
• Provide clear, compassionate legal guidance to vulnerable clients

Key requirements

• Experience in public law children proceedings
• Confidence managing cases independently and appearing in court
• Excellent communication skills, clear, grounded, empathetic
• Team player with desire to help families through difficult times
• Familiarity with Legal Aid and the Law Society Children’s Panel (or willingness to pursue membership)
