Custom Research Analyst

Overview

In this role you join the Custom Research team to help clients optimize their corporate governance programs through policy-driven, data-backed guidance. You will develop and implement tailored governance guidelines and vote recommendations using Policy Engine, aligning with client proxy voting rules. You’ll manage client policies end-to-end, flag emerging trends, and deliver customized reports and policy analyses. This is a collaborative, client-facing role at a leading governance solutions provider, offering impact across institutional investors and markets.

Responsibilities

• Provide proxy vote recommendations and rationale based on client-specific guidelines for institutional clients in Continental Europe
• Gather governance data from company public documents and maintain data quality
• Engage with institutional investors to update or develop their proxy voting guidelines
• Deliver client-specific projects and support teammates on research tasks
• Contribute to seasonal reviews, client calls, and research reports
• Engage with institutional investors and other market participants to discuss policies and votes
• Support policy formulation and updates within ISS Governance
• Collaborate with Corporate Technology to enhance applications benefiting clients and the department
• Coordinate with Sales and Account Management to ensure a positive client experience
• Answer internal and external queries on analyses and voting recommendations
• Participate in policy formulation and updates for governance policies and guidelines
• Work with internal teams to ensure operational effectiveness of tools and processes

Key requirements

• Master’s degree in Law and/or Finance, Economics/Politics or equivalent through experience
• Proxy voting industry experience with institutional investors is a plus
• Strong MS Office skills
• Strong analytical abilities and comfort with ambiguity
• Excellent problem solving and judgment skills
• Excellent English writing and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-driven work ethic and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate with internal and external parties
• Willingness to work long hours during peak weeks
• Good understanding of business technology and experience with technology in an operational context
