Overview

As a Product Applications Engineer at Nexperia, you will drive GaN technology adoption through hands-on application engineering. You will own projects end-to-end, from concept to deployment, bridging device, application, and system perspectives to deliver real-world value. You will develop evaluation platforms, perform in-application validation, and contribute to system-level optimization. This role offers direct influence on product definition and engagement with global customers in AI, power conversion, and motor drives.

Responsibilities

  • Own application projects end-to-end: specification, design, development, validation, deployment
  • Develop hardware and software evaluation platforms to demonstrate GaN performance in real conditions
  • Perform in-application validation and characterization aligned with system requirements
  • Benchmark across Si, SiC, GaN for efficiency, power density, thermal behavior, and system performance
  • Drive system-level analysis and translate use cases into actionable insights
  • Influence product definition with Marketing and GaN R&D using application-driven insights
  • Act as central technical authority for customers, leading deep-dive discussions and design reviews
  • Generate data-driven technical content (application notes, reference designs, documentation)
  • Collaborate with research institutes and universities on advanced application R&D and represent the company at GaN events

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Strong power electronics background (LV to 1200V)
  • Proven hands-on hardware development experience (design, bring-up, debug, validation)
  • Experience with GaN or SiC preferred
  • Strong system-level mindset linking application and device behavior
  • Experience in benchmarking and performance analysis
  • Understanding of AI/data center power is a plus
  • Understanding of motor control, including humanoid robotics, is a plus
  • Ability to manage HW & SW development end-to-end
