As Associate Director in our South West MEP team, you will lead medium-to-large healthcare, education, and defence projects, guiding interdisciplinary design and ensuring delivery on time and budget. You’ll mentor engineers, manage project finances, and coordinate with architects and clinicians to provide safe, resilient facilities. Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of medium to large healthcare, education and defence projects
• Own project finances and support team commercial performance
• Manage a small team of engineers and guide junior staff
• Coordinate with architects, structural, civil, and clinical teams in interdisciplinary reviews
• Prepare fee estimates and design programmes; define project deliverables with clients
• Perform quality checks on mechanical designs, drawings, and models
• Write technical specifications for mechanical systems aligned with BS EN, HTM/HBN
• Develop engineering budgets and schedules to meet clinical commissioning dates
• Utilise software tools for mechanical building services design, especially for social infrastructure
• Manage resources to meet deliverables on time and within budget

Key requirements

• Proven experience in mechanical building services design, ideally in healthcare, education and defence
• Motivated with a passion for delivering high-quality, safe environments in complex buildings
• Experience as an Associate, Principal Engineer, or similar senior role
• Strong written and verbal communication with clients and stakeholders
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE
• Good working knowledge of software for mechanical building services design
• Experience delivering projects using BIM software
• Experience in low carbon and energy-efficient systems design and understanding of carbon impact
• Ability to analyse outputs from IES or other building performance tools
• Experience in healthcare facility design with familiarity HTM/HBN guidance; education/defence experience beneficial
