SME Underwriting Product Manager

Overview

In this role you own SME portfolio performance and help shape product delivery for Commercial Combined, Property Owners, and Office lines. You translate underwriting strategy into eTrade product logic using Acturis, balancing growth with risk control. You’ll work with brokers and cross-functional teams to optimise digital trading and drive profitable expansion. This is a hands-on underwriting and product development position that blends analytics, risk, and partner management to support the SME strategy.

Responsibilities

• Define and monitor underwriting appetite and rules for new and existing products with portfolio managers and UW office
• Support product development through coverage analysis to ensure market relevance and alignment with underwriting strategy
• Leverage data with input data and SoF to select risks in an eTrade model
• Provide underwriting guidance for referrals and risk management approaches
• Conduct portfolio analysis to identify gaps, fix issues, and train team on knowledge gaps
• Manage profitability, growth and retention while maintaining underwriting quality
• Underwrite, negotiate, and perform MTAs to optimise risk/return
• Proactively manage SME portfolio to meet KPIs and target new business and retention
• Identify opportunities to write additional lines using product knowledge and risk characteristics
• Use technology platforms to quote and bind E-Trade risks efficiently
• Lead underwriting reviews and drive action points
• Build relationships with internal partners and brokers to uncover cross-selling opportunities
• Develop and rollout underwriting training material for SME product trading
• Support and coach SME team including referrals
• Perform other duties as assigned
