Building Control Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will advise on UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act and related legislation across a diverse project portfolio, embedding compliance from concept to delivery. You collaborate with architects, engineers and other specialists within Safety by Design to influence decisions and support innovative outcomes. You will take on a key advisory capacity on Principal Designer duties and help shape safety standards and best practice for global projects. You will also share knowledge through guidance and training for design teams, contributing to high-profile UK and international work.

Responsibilities

• Embed Building Regulations compliance from concept through delivery across projects
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering and specialist teams to influence design decisions
• Provide advisory support for Principal Designer duties on high-profile UK projects
• Shape safety and compliance strategies and contribute to evolving best practice
• Work on complex, global projects applying UK regulatory expertise
• Deliver guidance and training to design teams

Key requirements

• Strong experience delivering Building Control or consultancy services within design and construction
• Deep understanding of UK Building Regulations, Approved Documents, legislation and compliance processes
• Confidence working with clients and regulatory bodies
• Chartered membership with CABE, CIOB or RICS
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and design/construction methodologies
• Registered Building Inspector (RBI), Class 3H registration preferred
• Degree in architecture, engineering or related field (desirable)
