Associate Solicitor – Public & Environmental Law – Cardiff

Overview

In this role you will support public and regulatory matters, advising on environmental law for public sector, regulators, and private clients. You’ll handle complex matters across nature conservation, permitting, pollution and water/energy issues, contributing to high-profile, nationally significant projects. You will work within a collaborative team to provide clear, commercially-minded guidance and help manage risk and due diligence across transactions.

Responsibilities

• Advising on nature conservation, biodiversity net gain and environmental permitting
• Handling waste, pollution, contaminated land, and remediation matters
• Advising on water regulation, energy and infrastructure-related environmental issues
• Supporting public sector clients and regulators on environmental duties and compliance
• Conducting statutory interpretation and advising on public law risk
• Undertaking environmental due diligence for corporate and real estate transactions
• Working on high-profile, nationally significant environmental and regulatory matters
• Providing clear, commercially focused advice to clients at all levels

Key requirements

• Experience in environmental law (public or private sector)
• Knowledge of nature conservation, permitting, waste, pollution, contaminated land, water regulation or energy/infrastructure
• Experience in statutory interpretation and regulatory compliance
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
