Health & Safety Manager

Overview

As Health and Safety Manager, you safeguard a safe, compliant working environment across multiple sites in the North of the UK. You will develop and embed safety policies, lead audits and investigations, and partner with senior teams to drive HSE excellence. Your work supports resilience of the portfolio and adherence to Building Safety Act and industry standards. This role offers a chance to shape safety culture through training, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement health and safety policies aligned with legislation and Building Safety Act 2022
• Conduct inspections and audits; assess risks and recommend corrective actions
• Review RAMS to ensure risk control; advise site managers
• Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses; prepare reports for stakeholders
• Provide guidance on compliance and best practices; train staff and inductions
• Collaborate with management to embed safety across the organization
• Monitor and audit compliance; maintain records and logs
• Engage with regulators and external bodies; support periodic inspections
• Develop and implement strategy for achieving OHSAS 18001 compliance
• Identify trends in H&S data and drive improvement campaigns
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and industry best practices
• Build relationships with client HSE teams and present findings to stakeholders

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management
• NEBOSH certification in Fire Safety
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in health and safety management
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and Building Safety Act
• Proven track record implementing safety management systems
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate under pressure
• Proficient in health and safety software and applications
• Membership with IOSH or IIRSM desirable
• Experience liaising with regulators, unions, and forums
• Experience in facilities management, manufacturing facilities, or construction preferred
