Health & Safety Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the site, ensuring robust systems and compliant operations. You will partner with site leaders and cross-functional teams to foster a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement. You’ll investigate incidents, manage permits and ISO 14001, and coordinate audits and regulator engagements. This is a hands-on leadership role that shapes how the site meets safety standards while supporting business objectives. You will be a visible, pragmatic leader who challenges and enables teams to do the right thing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site’s HSE strategy and management systems
• Drive safety culture, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Coach managers and teams to fulfill HSE responsibilities
• Monitor HSE performance, identify trends, implement improvements
• Lead incident investigations and ensure effective corrective actions
• Maintain compliance with environmental permits and ISO 14001
• Manage internal and external audits, inspections, and customer requirements
• Act as key contact for regulators, enforcement agencies, customers and emergency services on HSE matters

Key requirements

• Significant HSE experience in manufacturing, ideally food manufacturing or FMCG
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification)
• IOSH Membership, ideally Chartered (CMIOSH)
• Proven experience developing and implementing HSE management systems
• Strong track record of driving behavioural change and safety culture
• Experience managing audits, inspections and regulatory compliance
• Expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis
