Child Protection Co-ordinator

Overview

In this role you will chair Child Protection Conferences using the Signs of Safety model to scrutinise plans and improve safeguarding outcomes. You will contribute to Sheffield’s evolving Lead Child Protection Practitioner approach and support timely decision-making while maintaining independence and professional authority. You’ll work across conference and reviewing services, also acting as Designated Officer (LADO) and supporting the child death overview process. This position suits an experienced social worker who can lead, influence and advocate for children in a multi-agency context.

Responsibilities

• Independently chair Child Protection Conferences using Signs of Safety
• Review progress and impact of safeguarding plans
• Provide independent challenge to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements
• Help shape the Lead Child Protection Practitioner approach
• Chair occasional strategy meetings and support timely decisions
• Challenge drift or delay while preserving chairing independence
• Act as Designated Officer (LADO)
• Support child death overview process with the safeguarding partnership
• Contribute flexibly across conference and reviewing services
• Welcomed: experience or commitment to statutory reviews for looked-after children

Key requirements

• Significant post-qualifying social work experience
• Strong safeguarding background
• Confidence in chairing complex multi-agency meetings
• Strong analysis and professional curiosity
