Strategic Healthcare Planner

Overview

As Healthcare Planner, you will shape planning and delivery of healthcare estates and facilities across NHS and allied sectors. You’ll collaborate with clinicians, strategists and project teams to translate clinical needs into efficient estate solutions. You’ll work on strategic planning, business case development and stakeholder engagement to enable high-quality patient care and operational performance. Responsibilities

• Healthcare Facility Planning: define room schedules, briefs and accommodation needs; assess design proposals for clinical alignment; run stakeholder workshops; develop operational models; support decant, phasing and migration planning
• Strategic Healthcare Planning: assist in healthcare and estate strategy development; analyze activity, demand, and capacity; translate clinical needs into estate solutions; contribute to population health assessments and future care models
• Business Case Development: lead SOC, OBC and FBC preparation; craft accommodation schedules aligned with service models; support investment appraisals and benefits realisation; perform benchmarking and estate analysis; contribute to financial and non-financial appraisal processes
• Stakeholder Engagement: build relationships with NHS clients, clinicians and executives; lead workshops and consultations; present findings to senior stakeholders; facilitate consensus across groups
• Data Analysis and Reporting: analyse activity, workforce, occupancy and utilisation data; produce client-facing outputs; develop option appraisals and evidence-based recommendations; draft high-quality technical documentation and business cases

Key requirements

• Degree in an associated discipline (Healthcare, Healthcare Management, Architecture, Planning, Public Health, Health Science Research, Estate Management)
• Experience in the Health sector, healthcare consultancy or healthcare design at senior level
• Understanding of healthcare service planning and estate planning processes
• Experience working with clinical and operational stakeholders
• Strong analytical and report-writing skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong track record of business generation and commercial acumen
