Overview
In this dual role, you will support both administrative and clinical coding activities to ensure accurate patient records and a smooth patient experience. You’ll work with the clinical and admin teams to manage registrations, documentation, and data security within a busy practice. Your work helps maintain high standards of information management and patient care, while collaborating across the Care Navigation Team and clinicians. This is a chance to develop healthcare information management skills in a supportive NHS-focused environment.

Responsibilities
- Process and code patient correspondence
- Maintain and scan electronic patient records
- Support patient registrations and access to medical records
- Provide secretarial and administrative support (including meetings)
- Handle telephone enquiries on a rota basis
- Code or free-text clinical information into patient records
- Summarise patient notes when requested
- Ensure data security
- Sort and file incoming mail
- Provide copy/audio typing and word processing for clinicians
- Arrange appointments and bookings
- Support Care Navigation Team on a rota basis
- Ensure timely scanning of incoming letters (48–72 hours)
Key requirements
- Experience in a busy administrative environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to prioritise and work independently or in a team
- Knowledge of clinical coding systems (desirable)
- NHS or Primary Care experience (desirable)
- GCSEs in Maths and English (related qualification)
