Overview

In this role you drive growth in the DIY retail market by identifying and converting new business opportunities. You’ll work with depot teams, buyers and trading desks to build exclusive relationships and secure revenue wins. The role combines independent pipeline management with collaboration across the commercial team to scale retail opportunities. You’ll use data to shape commercial arguments and lead impactful presentations. This is a UK-wide position with a flexible base and a focus on delivering measurable market expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and convert new business within the retail DIY market
  • Understand building products and materials to support credible buying conversations
  • Build exclusive relationships with depot managers, buyers, procurement directors and retail trading teams
  • Manage own pipeline and work independently while collaborating on larger wins
  • Qualify opportunities for growth and new business
  • Build prospect pipelines and convert to revenue outcomes
  • Manage CRM activity
  • Support larger commercial team on strategic opportunities

Key requirements

  • Previous experience in a Business Development role winning new business within DIY Retail and/or Trade
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, influence and negotiation skills
  • Experience with retailer planogram cycles
  • Comfort delivering presentations
  • Good IT literacy, especially MS Office and CRM systems
  • Ability to use data to build commercial arguments
  • Experience measuring success via revenue growth, margins and new wins
  • Knowledge of building products, fixings, hardware or equivalent
  • Familiarity with buying structures: Fortis, NBG
  • Understanding of the UK house building and residential construction market
