Overview

In this role you will deliver high-quality general and occupational healthcare to Service personnel within a supportive Defence Medical Services environment. You will work as part of the Defence Primary Healthcare team to support patient care, clinical governance, and performance objectives. You will handle routine primary care and occupational health tasks while contributing to audits and continuous improvement. This is a mission-critical role that blends clinical care with leadership and collaborative teamwork in a structured, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide general medical care to registered patients during normal practice hours
• Promote health, wellbeing and employability of Service personnel
• Conduct mandatory medical examinations and deliver occupational health advice and admin duties
• Provide preventative healthcare advice to individuals and Chain of Command
• Oversee management, monitoring and reporting of communicable diseases
• Deliver primary care emergency treatment when required
• Maintain active involvement in clinical governance
• Participate in audits aligned with personal and practice development plans
• Collaborate with the primary healthcare team and line management
• Undertake clinical leadership, including elements of line management where applicable

Key requirements

• General Medical Council (GMC) registration and licence to practice
• Full UK professional registration
• Security clearance (SC)
• To be able to provide evidence of Hepatitis B immunity on appointment
• Current UK professional registration (GBR)
