Overview

In this role you will handle contentious insolvency matters within a respected Scottish law firm. You will advise insolvency practitioners, companies, directors, and creditors, handling high-value disputes across courts. You’ll work closely with restructuring, banking, and corporate teams to shape strategy and outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Advise on contentious insolvency matters including liquidations, administrations, and bankruptcies
  • Litigate wrongful trading, misfeasance, breach of fiduciary duty, and director disqualification
  • Pursue/defend claims for preferences, transactions at undervalue, and antecedent transactions
  • Represent insolvency practitioners in asset recovery and enforcement actions
  • Advise creditors and directors on risk, strategy, and dispute resolution
  • Manage cases in Sheriff Court, Court of Session, and other forums
  • Draft pleadings, court documents, and legal opinions
  • Collaborate with restructuring, banking, and corporate teams
  • Contribute to business development, client relationships, and thought leadership

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in Scotland (or dual-qualified with relevant Scottish litigation experience)
  • Circa 2-6 years PQE
  • Strong background in litigation or dispute resolution; insolvency litigation experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines
