Overview
In this role you will lead the commercial delivery for a portfolio of Asset Intelligence projects, with a focus on Stansted Airport. You will oversee end-to-end commercial management—from mobilisation to final account—ensuring accuracy, governance and timely cash flow. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to align commercial decisions with project delivery and protect the company’s commercial position. Responsibilities
- Act as the commercial lead for a portfolio of projects within Asset Intelligence, guiding strategy and performance from mobilisation to final account
- Provide visible commercial leadership at Stansted Airport and engage on site to understand progress and constraints
- Coordinate with operations, delivery, design and planning teams to align commercial decisions with delivery and site records
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts, spend profiles, client applications and variance analysis with clear budget explanations
- Manage cash, WIP and debt, driving actions to maximise cash flow and timely recovery of amounts due
- Lead preparation and review of CVRs, VCA reviews, cost reports, forecasts and month-end submissions
- Lead procurement and tendering for subcontract and supply chain packages with strategy, tender lists and evaluations
- Negotiate and administer client and subcontract terms with proper risk allocation and timely subcontract execution
- Lead the commercial management of compensation events, variations and change control with timely notices and communications
- Oversee extension of time and loss and expense entitlements with clear documentation
- Assess and approve supply chain applications and payments in line with contracts and statutory requirements
- Chair or lead commercial meetings with clients and supply chain partners as the primary commercial interface
- Maintain auditable commercial records and governance-aligned documentation
- Identify, manage and report commercial risks and opportunities with mitigation actions
- Lead, coach and develop Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors to uphold standards
- Build strong professional relationships with clients, supply chain and internal teams to protect GT’s financial interests
- Support audits, assurance reviews and governance gateways ensuring compliance with commercial requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement, sustainability commitments and environmental and social responsibility initiatives
Key requirements
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction, infrastructure, utilities or similar environments
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline (or demonstrable experience)
- Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms; commercial acumen and ability to manage multiple live projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; comfortable with commercial systems, reporting tools and project documentation platforms
- Ability to lead and develop junior commercial staff and collaborate with operational/technical teams
- Progress towards or membership of professional bodies such as RICS or CIOB is desirable
