Overview

In this role you will lead governance and compliance across the hospital to ensure high standards, safe care, and regulatory excellence. You will coordinate inspections, reporting, and governance forums, driving continuous improvement and accountability. You will work closely with clinical and service teams to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities, shaping quality outcomes. This position offers impact across regulatory activities (CQC, NHS England) and quality metrics, contributing to a safe and well-governed care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate internal compliance inspections across services
  • Oversee CQUIN delivery and reporting requirements
  • Own CQC preparation, submissions, and post-inspection action plans
  • Monitor appraisal and supervision compliance and escalate gaps
  • Coordinate Clinical Governance framework and monthly governance meetings
  • Ensure high-quality reporting across Quality, KPIs, Complaints, and workforce metrics
  • Present governance insights, highlight risks and improvement areas
  • Ensure actions from governance forums are followed through and delivered
  • Submit accurate CQC notifications and NHS England reports
  • Oversee incident reporting and escalation of Serious Incidents and safeguarding alerts
  • Act as liaison between internal teams and external governance stakeholders
  • Lead dashboards and data use to monitor performance and drive improvements
  • Oversee Ward Quality Accounts and ensure compliant submissions
  • Coordinate Quality Network Reviews, audits, and follow-up actions
  • Support clinical leaders in audit programmes ensuring timely delivery
  • Carry out audits and spot checks for assurance

Key requirements

  • Experience in governance, compliance, or quality role within healthcare
