Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy & Emerging Technologies (London/Hybrid)

Overview

In this role you will support the design and delivery of large-scale solar, storage, and low-carbon infrastructure across the UK. You will work within a collaborative engineering team to manage electrical design, grid connections, equipment selection, and construction support, contributing to the full project lifecycle. You will apply digital tools, automation, and coding to boost delivery efficiency and innovation. Responsibilities

• Produce HV and LV electrical designs for renewable energy and energy storage projects
• Develop single-line diagrams, cable sizing calculations, and earthing designs
• Prepare and manage grid connection applications through to offer acceptance
• Specify and select electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, inverters, energy storage systems)
• Undertake power system studies (load flow, fault level, harmonic analysis) using industry software
• Support planning submissions and environmental assessments
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and stakeholders
• Review construction documentation and provide on-site technical support during installation and commissioning
• Apply automation, AI tools, and coding to improve processes and data management
• Keep up to date with industry regulations, standards, and emerging technologies

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 6+ years of experience in electrical design, grid integration, power systems, renewables or storage
• Understanding of UK power systems and grid connection processes
• Familiarity with G99 and ENA Engineering Recommendations
• Experience with HV/LV design in renewable energy or infrastructure
• Proficiency with power system analysis software (ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE)
• Awareness of UK planning and consenting frameworks for infrastructure
• Interest in coding (Python or similar), automation, and AI applications
