Principal Structural Engineer – Bristol

Overview

In this role you lead the delivery of complex structural solutions to critical infrastructure across Bristol and Plymouth. You will own projects from concept to completion, directing technical output and ensuring standards compliance while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. You’ll mentor engineers and act as the primary client contact to drive successful, timely outcomes. The opportunity combines hands-on design leadership with business and client engagement in a diverse sector portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design across all project stages from concept to completion
• Produce and review calculations, drawings, specifications and reports
• Manage projects to time and budget; oversee change control and support commercial performance
• Mentor engineers and lead small teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
• Act as main point of contact for clients and stakeholders; foster cross-disciplinary relationships
• Contribute to innovation, best practices and adoption of modern design tools

Key requirements

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (CEng, MICE or MIStructE) with broad project experience
• Proficient in Tekla or Robot; working knowledge of Revit
• Strong commercial awareness, communication, and health and safety commitment
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for UK security clearance
