Lead Document Controller

Overview

In this Lead Document Controller role, you will oversee document control across multiple projects to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance of information. You will manage numbering, revision control, transmittals, submittals, and CDE administration, while shaping workflows and best practices. You’ll lead the document control function and support BIM information management, collaborating with project teams to align information with project requirements. This is an office-based position in London offering a competitive package and a clear path to drive process improvements and team development.

Responsibilities

• Manage document control systems: numbering, drawing registers, revision control, transmittals, submittals
• Administer and maintain CDE platforms (SharePoint, Procore, and similar)
• Develop and improve document workflows, procedures, and best practices
• Ensure compliance with project information requirements, quality standards, and audits
• Perform quality checks on project documentation prior to issue
• Oversee document distribution, archiving, and retention
• Support BIM information management and alignment with workflows
• Lead and mentor the Document Controller team
• Provide regular reporting on document status, compliance and outstanding actions
• Collaborate with project, design, and construction teams on information management

Key requirements

• Senior or lead document control experience in construction, engineering, or building services
• Strong knowledge of document control processes, revision management, and CDE administration
• Advanced experience with SharePoint and Procore; knowledge of Aconex/Asite desirable
• Understanding of BIM information management processes and standards
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
