Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role, you support the delivery of civil and structural design for rail and multi-sector projects. You work within a multidisciplinary team to develop design solutions that meet client, budget, and quality targets. You’ll contribute to calculations, drawings, and reports, using BIM tools and a common data environment. The position offers mentoring and development toward Chartered Engineer status, within a culture focused on safety and collaboration. Responsibilities

• Support civil and structural design tasks across rail and multi-sector projects
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and other technical documentation
• Work within 3D design and BIM environments (AECOSim, Revit, Civil 3D) and contribute to Common Data Environment
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and deliver coordinated designs
• Assist with project documentation and help achieve programme, budget and quality targets
• Attend site visits and surveys, including rail environments
• Build effective relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
• Follow Arcadis systems, procedures, and health and safety requirements, fostering a safe culture
• Develop technical, professional and project delivery skills through mentoring and on-the-job learning
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with ICE or IStructE

Key requirements

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Student or Graduate membership of ICE or IStructE
• Experience in civil and/or structural design, preferably in consultancy with rail exposure
• Progressing towards Chartered Engineer status with ICE or IStructE
• Experience using civil engineering design software to prepare deliverables
• Awareness of BIM principles and working in a Common Data Environment
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning and organisational ability
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
• Proactive, collaborative and delivery-focused; willing to learn
• Flexibility to travel occasionally within the UK
