Overview
In this Risk Manager role, you join the Project Controls Team to identify, assess and manage threats and opportunities across high-profile infrastructure projects. You will monitor risk exposure, support response development and finance implications, and present risk insights to senior management. You’ll apply quantitative and qualitative risk techniques to shape contingency and risk budgets. This position offers impact across energy, renewables, defence, rail and utilities with a focus on delivering measurable project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate identification, assessment and prioritisation of threats, opportunities, and issues
- Maintain visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points to support risk cost profiling and budget decisions
- Assist with development of measurable management responses and assess post-mitigated positions
- Monitor overall risk exposure against remaining risk budget and project timeline
- Produce and present fit-for-purpose risk reports to senior management
- Understand quantitative risk assessment to inform contingency and time risk allowances
- Demonstrate competency with tools such as Safran, @risk, PRA or equivalent
- Familiarity with ARM, Xactium, Predict, Tableau, PowerBI
Key requirements
- Experience in a risk delivery role on major projects/programmes or with blue-chip clients
- Project experience in energy, renewables, defence, rail and utilities is advantageous
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative risk assessment including probabilistic modelling
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and willingness to develop new ways of working
- Knowledge of integrated risk management solutions across portfolios, programmes and projects
- Attainment or working towards IRM / APM risk certification preferred
