MEP Technical Coordinator

Overview

As MEP Technical Coordinator, you will oversee the coordination of mechanical, electrical and plumbing design and installation on a prestigious Central London project. You work closely with in-house and external designers and the site team to ensure compliant, safe, and efficient systems on a Grade II listed building. You provide technical checks, reviews of sub-contractor drawings, and progress reporting to the operations and management teams. This role focuses on delivering high-quality MEP installation while minimising environmental impact and supporting the project’s safety and performance goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in tender development and negotiations
• Conduct technical checks on proposed subcontractors for competence
• Attend progress and technical meetings as adviser to operations
• Verify certification for gas, electrical and related services
• Liaise with Site Inspection Reporting system and report to operations
• Provide guidance on practical aspects of MEP installations to designers
• Oversee and comment on sub-contractor drawings, submissions and O&M
• Monitor subcontractor electrical and mechanical installation works (without direct supervision)
• Investigate and resolve technical issues raised by operations
• Advise on energy use and conservation to reduce environmental impact
• Provide regular progress reports to Manager

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as MEP Technical Coordinator for a main contractor
• Understanding of building performance with skills in at least one Building Services discipline
• Effective communication, ability to manage and supervise trades and lead progress reviews
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM Modeling
• High drive and ability to perform under own mobilisation
• Desirable: Design and Build experience with main contractors
