Adult Social Care Solicitor

Overview

As an Adult Social Care Solicitor at Wiltshire Council, you will support the delivery of legal services for adult care matters. You will work with an experienced team to advise on capacity, best interests, and Court of Protection proceedings, both remotely and in court. You will cover a wide range of disputes and safeguarding issues, contributing to policy and training initiatives. This role offers hybrid working with regular office presence and opportunities to influence care decisions and inter‑agency collaboration. Responsibilities

• Advise on court applications related to disputed capacity and best interests decisions
• Participate in Court of Protection proceedings (remote and in person)
• Handle applications concerning displacement or appointment of nearest relatives
• Advise on policies and discrete issues while supporting training initiatives
• Manage a spectrum of adult care matters including ordinary residence disputes, safeguarding, and care management resolutions
• Contribute to challenges to community care decisions, complaints, and inter‑agency disputes

Key requirements

• Experienced solicitor with a background in adult social care
• Proven ability to advise on Court of Protection proceedings and capacity issues
• Experience with safeguarding, public law challenges, and inter‑agency collaboration
• Ability to contribute to policy development and training
