Manager, Chief Engineer, EMEA

Overview

In this role, you will lead a team of Critical Facilities Engineers to ensure safe, reliable operation of data center mechanical and electrical systems. You’ll drive maintenance programs, onboarding and performance management, and coordinate with Site leadership to manage capital and life-cycle improvements. You will balance hands-on technical work with leadership, shaping how the team delivers mission-critical infrastructure with exceptional customer service. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop assigned personnel, including performance appraisals, training plans, counseling and mentoring
• Oversee daily engineering & operations activities to safely operate machinery and building systems
• Coordinate and supervise maintenance and service repairs on critical facility systems (electrical distribution, generators, UPS, HVAC, BMS, fire prevention, etc.)
• Manage service contracts: scope, bidding, awarding and administration
• Train CFEs on new processes and procedures
• Direct and maintain site-specific preventive maintenance and work order program

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Hands-on maintenance/repair/installation/commissioning experience in mission-critical facilities (mechanical and/or electrical)
• Facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision experience (strongly preferred)
• Direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills (strongly preferred)
• Universal CFC certification required, or obtained within first year
• Ability to evaluate system performance and propose cost-effective improvements
• Ensure availability of adequate inventory of tools and supplies
• Protect and improve asset value and lifecycle of building systems
• Organize administrative functions related to site operations (work orders, budgets)
• Assist with preparation of operational and capital budgets
• Oversee major projects planning, execution and close-out per industry best practices
• Oversee contractors working within the building
• Proven track record of excellent internal and external customer service
• Clear oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation system
