Solicitor – Construction – Cardiff – 4+ Years PQE

Overview

In this role you will advise a broad client base on construction matters, spanning non-contentious and contentious work within a collaborative firm. You will handle drafting and negotiating key contracts, support procurement strategy and project delivery, and manage disputes through various forums. You’ll work with multiple teams to deliver high-value projects and contribute to business development and training. Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate construction contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke)
• Advise on procurement strategy, risk allocation and regulatory compliance
• Support project delivery and contract administration
• Manage disputes including defects, delays, payment issues and professional negligence
• Represent clients in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations, and TCC proceedings
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Corporate, Banking, and Commercial teams
• Prepare legal submissions and assist partners in complex disputes
• Contribute to business development and internal training initiatives

Key requirements

• 4+ years PQE in UK construction law
• Strong non-contentious construction experience
• Interest or experience in contentious construction matters
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
• Commercial awareness and pragmatic problem solving
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills
• Enthusiasm for mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to team development
