Overview

In this Fire Engineer role, you will contribute to a growing, multidisciplinary building consultancy by delivering fire engineering expertise from design through completion. You will support Building Safety Act compliance and Gateway submissions, collaborating with surveyors, managers and designers to shape safe, compliant projects. The position offers technical autonomy, direct client engagement and opportunities to evolve fire engineering services across a diverse project portfolio. You’ll work in a hybrid setup based in East Central London with a clear impact on complex built environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation, review and sign-off of fire strategies and regulatory reports for complex buildings
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation, Building Regulations, Approved Documents and guidance
• Provide technical leadership, quality assurance and project governance on fire engineering matters
• Develop and maintain trusted client relationships through clear communication and proactive management
• Support fee proposals, scope development and business development across multidisciplinary services
• Mentor junior colleagues through technical guidance and CPD
• Collaborate with Building Surveyors, Project Managers, Cost Consultants and Principal Designers to deliver integrated safety solutions

Key requirements

• Professional fire engineering experience with IFE membership or clear pathway to chartered status
• Degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field with relevant experience
• Minimum three years delivering fire engineering consultancy in the UK
• Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and Gateway processes
• Experience on complex buildings including external wall remediation and risk-based assessments
• Excellent report writing, stakeholder communication, and project management skills
